At the direction of the Chair, the Secretary will be responsible for the day-to-day office operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Provide support for academic routines of the department, including submitting workflow requests for class schedules; working with Academic Scheduling on room assignment issues; ensuring sufficient quantities of supplies and teaching materials and field inquiries in person, by email, and by phone.
•Make student advisement appointments using Outlook calendar.
•Coordinate mass mailings using Mail merge functions in MS Office.
•At the direction of the Chair, hire, train, and supervise student aides. Coordinate with Office of Student Employment regarding permits/paperwork, review and submit eTime for approval, and monitor hours/wages so as to stay within budget.
•At the direction of the Chair, plan and execute departmental events for students and faculty.
•Completes all necessary forms as required by the Dean's Office.
•Provide support for periodic programs, i.e., Peer Teacher recruitment and administration; applications for European Odyssey; Inaba Scholarship process; Departmental Honors Thesis; Gamma Theta Upsilon induction ceremony, etc.
•Work with Information Technology and Physical Plant departments to ensure the physical space and
equipment needs of the department are fulfilled.
•Maintain inventory and logbook of departmental property including: camera, projector, slide scanner, handheld GPS devices, etc.
•Maintain and update all department records/spreadsheets, and major and minor list and alumni information.
•At the direction of the Chair, update department web page information via Webwork.
•Utilize social media, including Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin to publicize department events.
•May perform other duties not specifically identified above, but which require the same degree of skill and which are normally included within the above job title.

Monday - Thursday 9a - 2p

Qualifications:Prior office experience required. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
