* Responsibilities
Under the direction of a professional registered nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled nursing services, monitors the physical health and safety of psychiatric patients and/or individuals with developmental disabilities, communicates with other health care practitioners regarding health status, collaborates with other staff regarding health care issues, and provides a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Work as a team member of the health care team to meet overall needs of the individuals by implementing the plan of care developed by the interdisciplinary teamProvide clinical oversight and direction to direct care staff related to health care needsAssure that medications and treatment supplies are current and properly ordered, stored and accounted forAdminister medications and complete treatment procedures according to current nursing standardsMaintain accurate medical records regarding medications, treatment, symptoms and conditions including anticipated and adverse response to medications and/or treatmentsObserve individuals, chart and report changes in conditions, including anticipated and any adverse response to medications and/or treatments; Take necessary action to ensure safety and positive outcomesMeasure and record vital signs as needed; Report results as indicated by orders or based on findingsProvide health care and treatments, such as treating decubiti, dressing wounds, giving enemas, performing catherizations, assisting with taking and monitoring weight and administering tube feedings; Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including positioning, transferring and ambulation, as needed; Record and report food and fluid intake and output when indicated
- Perform all other duties/tasks as assigned
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to perform routine nursing procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
- Ability to assess patient's condition and make sound, independent decisions
