JOB SUMMARY: Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a Unit of the University System of Georgia (USG), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art position, with an emphasis in ceramics and sculpture, to support its BA in Applied Art and Design. This innovative, professionally focused, degree program consists of a Visual Art Core with optional tracks in Visual Communication and Film that are specifically aligned to the graphic arts, advertising, and film production industries. The available Associate Professor of Art position will support the Visual Art Core in the new BA in Applied Art and Design program. All positions in the School of Arts & Letters require a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This position involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, student advisement, and service. Travel among our campuses will be required as needed. Teaching responsibilities will include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses, and video-conference classes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a M.F.A. in Ceramics, Sculpture, or related field. Must be able to teach three-dimensional art, sculpture, and ceramic classes. A readiness to teach at the collegiate level with commitment to student engagement and to engage in academic and community service. Evidence of scholarly promise or achievement (for tenure-track line).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior successful teaching experience, leadership skills that can help grow a nascent B.A. in Art, evidence of innovative pedagogical practices, and experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
