The Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) is one of the largest and strongest teacher preparation units in the University System of Georgia offering bachelor's, master's, educational specialist, and Doctor of Education degree programs. All educator preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (now CAEP) and approved by Georgia's Professional Standards Commission (PSC). KSU's Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) is the university's umbrella organization for preparing educators and includes 13 departments from five colleges all of which collaborate on the design, delivery, approval, and accreditation of all educator preparation programs. The EPP serves as a model of university-wide responsibility for teacher education; field-based collaboration with practicing professionals and partner schools; infusion of technology for enhanced teaching and learning; and best practices for the inclusion of English learners and students with exceptionalities.
As one of the larger departments at KSU, the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education has more than 80 full-time and part-time faculty members. The department serves over 1,500 Elementary and Early Childhood Education undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate majors. It offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education is offered online. Certification for pre-kindergarten to grade five is embedded in the undergraduate program. In addition, the department offers the Birth to Kindergarten Bachelor of Science degree program. Job Summary
The Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education in the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University is seeking an Open Rank Limited Term faculty position in Elementary Education beginning August 2021 (renewable for up to 2 years).
Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities
This individual would assume a range of responsibilities including:
Teaching undergraduate courses Supervising teacher candidates in clinical experiences in various school settings Collaborating with program coordinators Assisting with program evaluation Working with a diverse community Curriculum and Assessment The faculty member would be expected to teach 4 - 5 courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. Required Qualifications
For Limited Term Instructor, an earned Master's, Ed.S, Ed.D, or Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field, or the foreign equivalent For an Limited Term Assistant Professor or Limited Term Associate Professor, an earned Ed.D, or Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field, or the foreign equivalent Strong background in the use of educational technology to enhance student learning A minimum of two (2) years working with elementary and/or early childhood students Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications might include:
Ability to teach in multiple content areas (e.g., literacy, assessment, mathematics) Prior experience with supervising field and clinical experiences Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses Pre-K-5 teaching experience in U.S. public schools Knowledge and/or experience with program approval or accreditation.
