Spartanburg Methodist College, founded in 1911, is a private residential liberal arts institution serving a diverse student population within the United Methodist Connection. Since its founding as the first co-op school in the nation, SMC has remained dedicated to its mission to connect education and employment. After over 100 years as an Associate Degree granting institution, the college launched its first bachelor’s degree in 2019. Teaching Assistant for Digital Marketing Analyst Program Job Description

All employees of Spartanburg Methodist College are entrusted with assisting the College to achieve its vision and mission. Customer focus, college service, and a willingness to assist as needed are expectations of all employees.

Organizational Responsibilities:

In collaboration, Spartanburg Methodist College and Generation will launch a Digital Marketing Analyst Certificate program. Each cohort will be served by 1 Instructor and 2 Teaching Assistants for a total of 3 temporary instructional staff members to be employed by Spartanburg Methodist College in alignment with the Generation role descriptions. Instructors are expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET, and Teaching Assistants are expected to work 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday, making themselves available between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET. Generation and Spartanburg Methodist College will collaborate to connect students to career resources and social supports.

Job Summary:

Deliver engaging online synchronous modules to a diverse group of learners and guiding them in their asynchronous (independent learning) modules. You are knowledgeable about industry trends in digital marketing and able to share your own personal insight with students You love to inspire diverse groups of learners and genuinely want to help groups of learners acquire technical skills, behavioral skills, mindsets and employment coaching that will make them valuable employees in the tech sector.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

    Deliver online small group sessions to a diverse group of learners and guiding them in their learning under the supervision of the lead instructor. Adapt your communication style to reflect and connect with the diverse experiences of participants Support Generation’s data-driven model by tracking and inputting (in Salesforce/ Canvas) participant attendance and performance in class and on assessments. Ensure you are bringing the learning experience to life, building community and enhancing relevance through drawing on your own industry experience. Provide relevant and timely feedback to students on formative and summative assessment and on client projects. Increase participant engagement using different facilitation tactics. Explain complex topics in a non-technical way. Coach and guide students to be as employable as possible and support them to develop industry-standard portfolios. Commit to and empathize with young/mid-career people and disconnected populations. Provide differentiated and one-on-one support to motivate and support participants to persevere through challenges. Be available to co-lead class, host office hours, provide individualized student support, and complete data entry from 9a -5p, Monday-Friday. Engage in weekly professional development and training. Substitute for trainers in case of absence/attrition. Act professionally at all times, meeting Generation and college expectations and policies.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    Prior experience as a trainer not required but must be dedicated to developing skills for excellence in instruction and motivated to support learners Comfortable with communicating to large and small groups of people and have a desire to coach and guide learners in an empathetic manner. Prepared to share personal insight in the industry and profession with students Passion for inspiring diverse groups of learners and genuinely want to help your group of learners acquire technical skills, behavioral skills, mindsets and employment coaching that will make them valuable employees in the tech sector.

Working Conditions:

100% remote, work-from-home.

Physical Requirements:

    Ability to be active and available in an online environment for many hours at a time between 9a-5p, Monday-Friday. Must have a personal computer, laptop or other device to deliver educational experience online with reliable internet service. Be available to College Partner, Generation USA, for 2 weeks (40 hours total) of onboarding prior to the start of the program. Be available for at least 8 hours of meetings and/or trainings per month.

Education and Experience:

    At least 2 years industry experience in digital marketing and/or college degree in marketing or similar. Certification in GAIQ (Google Analytics Individual Qualification) and Facebook Blueprint.
