Department Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Department at USD is part of the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering (SMSE), which is ranked by U.S. News in the top 15 of non-doctoral engineering schools. The department offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and consists of faculty who are devoted to challenging and inspiring students to learn the technical skills in the thermal sciences, mechanics, and design areas. The mission of the school is to provide graduates with the perspective, social awareness and leadership skills necessary for becoming change making engineers.

Detailed Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a nine-month contract instructor position to provide in person teaching to begin September 1, 2021. There is a possibility of a renewal of the contract after the first year. The department is also anticipating a search for tenure track faculty next year. This position is a full benefits-based position and requires face to face student instruction.

Candidates from all areas of specialization will be considered and immediate instructional needs are in the thermal science area.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be required to have a PhD in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
