About the Management, Law and Ethics Department

The Department of Management, Law and Ethics in the AACSB accredited School of Business at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant professor position to begin in Fall of 2022. The School of Business has a Carnegie Classification of R2. As such, we value impactful scholarship and engaged teaching. The MGMT department is a diverse team of faculty who appreciate one another’s contributions in teaching, research, and service and are enthusiastic about building this department together and looking for our next team member!

We have expertise in teaching various areas of Organizational Behavior (OB), negotiations, cross cultural management, entrepreneurial leadership, business leadership, and ethics. Current faculty’s scholarship focuses on teams and group work, strategic leadership, creative change, ethical decision-making, entrepreneurial decision making, innovation structures, gender, and cross-cultural management and leadership. We are looking for a faculty member who can add to and compliment these areas of teaching and research.


Detailed Description:
The School of Business at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Organizational Behavior with specific emphases on organizational behavior, management, leadership, ethics, or organizational psychology to begin in Fall of 2022. We will be interviewing candidates online the week of August 9-13

Job Requirements:
Assistant Professor

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or ABD near completion) in Organizational Behavior from an accredited program prior to the start of appointment and is expected to maintain a record of scholarly achievement in field-specific, peer-reviewed outlets as well as dedication to teaching excellence and service in a liberal arts environment.

Additionally, we are looking for:
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion that includes but is not limited to working with faculty from various backgrounds, creating a welcoming classroom environment for all students, and engaging in research that seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace/environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in teaching and working with students in OB and/or Management topics and the ability to add graduate courses to their teaching profile over time.
  • The ability to conduct and disseminate scholarly research as evidenced by impactful peer-reviewed scholarly publications, books, book chapters and/or presentations or proceedings at academic conferences in OB related areas such as leadership, interpersonal relations, team dynamics, human resources, organizational psychology, etc.

Associate Professor

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Organizational Behavior from an accredited program prior to the start of appointment and is expected to maintain a record of scholarly achievement in field-specific, peer-reviewed outlets as well as dedication to teaching excellence and service in a liberal arts environment. The School of Business has a Carnegie Classification of R2. As such, we value impactful scholarship and engaged teaching. Faculty coming in with several years’ experience will have a 3/3 teaching load.

Additionally, we are looking for:
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion that includes but is not limited to working with faculty from various backgrounds, creating a welcoming classroom environment for all students, and engaging in research that seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace/environment.
  • Several years of demonstrated experience and success in teaching innovative and engaging courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and interest in teaching various courses in management and OB.
  • The ability to conduct and disseminate scholarly research as evidenced by impactful peer-reviewed scholarly publications, books, book chapters and/or presentations or proceedings at academic conferences in OB related areas such as leadership, interpersonal relations, team dynamics, human resources, organizational psychology, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in mentoring junior faculty in research and teaching.
