Min T/E Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution with minimum of 3 years of progressive work
experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness;

At least 2 years of work experience in reporting, analytics and business intelligence (e.g., Tableau, Argos) in institutional research;

At least 2 years of experience using SQL, or SAS programming at advanced level to query student information system and retrieve information using complex joins;

At least 2 years of experience with Ellucian Banner, or PeopleSoft Student Data system;

Experience in leading campus wide projects, be able to take direction, collaboratively work with cross functional units across campus, and manage multiple projects simultaneously;

Excellent skills in project management and oral communication.

Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
Office of Institutional Research serves as a centralized data resource to the university community by providing strategic, timely, accurate information and research service to assist institutional planning and assessment, inform sound decision making, and enhance institutional effectiveness.

Primary Purpose of Position:
Within the Office of Institutional Research (IR), the position plays a critical role in managing data collection, analysis and reporting activities in fulfillment of university’s regulatory, accountability, compliance, and other public information obligations. The person will report to the director of Institutional Research and serve as a member of the management team that guides the overall efforts of the office to fulfill its mission and vision. The scope of the position extends from IR to the entire University community.

Job Description:
The overall duties of this position entail data collection, management, analysis, reporting and presentation of detailed quantitative data that support decision-making. Under this general job function, the position specifically is responsible for: Supervise and Lead Data Collection and Submissions (30%). The person in this position is a keyholder of Student Data Mart team and UNC DAVE facilities system. The responsibilities include: Lead collection of quantitative and qualitative data on the university's students, faculty, staff, and programs, as well as on the higher education field in general; Lead building data blocks using Argos and ensure the quality of reporting cross campus; Supervise ad hoc requests; Lead to visualize institutional data and reports using Tableau or Power BI. Other duties as assigned (not limit to) (20%). Assist with data collection to fulfill internal and external reports including Common data Set, Facebook, Student Achievement Measure, U.S. News & World Report, and so forth; Assist with analysis of institutional survey data; Assist with the Delaware Study or faculty teaching workload study (10%); Represent UNCP IR to the UNC system office, and represent IR to attend the various technical committees across campus (e.g., Banner Data Standard Committee); Assist with research studies related to improvement of student success and other topics as assigned. Lead SQL/SAS Programming (20%). The person will construct SQL queries to gather and combine data and to document data location and methods used for data extraction. Write, maintain, and modify computer program codes (SQL) to extract and manipulate data for federal, state, UNC system, associated agencies, and internal community (e.g., UNC SDM submission, ad hoc requests and special studies) using SQL/SAS languages. Write, maintain, and modify SQL/SAS codes to manipulate and analyze data using appropriate statistical methods for ad hoc requests, internally and externally. Write, maintain, and modify SQL codes to merge current datasets with historical records, and develop programming logic scripts that can be repeatedly used to extract, translate, and load data into various formats. Maintenance, integrity and visualization of institutional data & reporting (30%). The person in this position should be able to integrate data from various sources, develop and maintain a coherent system of institutional knowledge and information. Lead collection of quantitative and qualitative data on the university's students, faculty, staff, and programs, as well as on the higher education field in general; Lead building data blocks using Argos and ensure the quality of reporting cross campus; Supervise ad hoc requests; Lead to visualize institutional data and reports using Tableau or Power BI.
