Job Summary:

The Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) ofOklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) serves as the Chief AcademicOfficer. The Provost/VPAA is responsible for thecreation, implementation and fulfillment of OSU-OKC’s academic priorities inconsultation with the President, Executive Team and other institutionalstakeholders. The Provost/VPAA is responsible for the recruitment, retention,engagement, and development of diverse, excellence-driven academic personnel,and works closely with leadership, faculty, staff and others in the creation,delivery and continuous improvement of high-quality academic programs andservices.

Essential Job Functions:

    Provides leadership forall academic units and personnel; direct supervisees include OSU-OKC’s DivisionHeads and the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.Ensures the evaluation and professional development of allacademic personnel.Ensures the alignment of academic resources tothe needs of students and other stakeholders.Identifies and engages institutional partners,including employers, to ensure the relevance of OSU-OKC’s educationalprograms and services to the needs of the campus community.Is responsible for the advancement of student access andsuccess.Ensures quality academic advising for all credential-seekingstudents.Is responsible for institutional accreditation and servesas, or supervises, OSU-OKC’s Higher Learning Commission Accreditation LiaisonOfficer.Oversees academic appeals processes and is responsible forgranting exceptions to academic policy when justified.Is responsible for the delivery and ongoing evaluation ofall academic programs and services.Promotes fulfillment of OSU-OKC’s mission, vision andstrategic priorities.Ensures the assessment of student learning and use of datafor continuous improvement.Is responsible for the oversight of academic policy andprocedures and compliance with them.Provides leadership and direction for the creation ofprogram-specific articulation agreements with state, regional and nationalcolleges and universities.Maintains productive relationships with other educationalinstitutions, including schools, technology centers and other colleges anduniversities.Serves as a contributing member of the President’s ExecutiveTeam.
  1. Completes all mandatory training and participates in aminimum of two professional development activities each year.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:
•Five or more years of progressive managerial or related leadership experience in a higher education environment.
•Postsecondary teaching experience.
•Demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse constituencies.

•Demonstrated capacity to develop a comprehensive vision and to take bold and innovative actions that reflect wisdom and foresight.
•Demonstrated ability to inspire others for effective, creative and productive performance in instruction and outreach.
•Demonstrated commitment to the recruitment, retention and success of faculty, students and staff.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, students, staff and other institutional stakeholders.
•Passion for the advancement of the OSU-OKC and OSU brands through positive engagement and professionalism.
•Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

•Earned doctorate from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience as a Provost and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs, or similar position.
•Experience with higher education accreditation.

Working Conditions:
•Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
•Travel required.
•Work will be performed in an office and learning environments with a significant amount of public interaction in person, by telephone, via email and various communication platforms.

Physical Requirements:
•Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
•Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
•Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
