Responsibilities

This position serves as the primary grant coordinator for the Department of Physics’ Sponsored Research support unit. Oversees pre-award and post-award processes, ensures compliance, and supervises grant support staff.

Oversees the initiation, approval, and audit of all departmental fiscal activities for the sponsored funds management of Physics, including pre- and post-award and proposal development; interprets agency, college, and university policies and provides guidance related to contract and grant initiatives; recommends policies and procedures for the department to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university requirements.

Monitors fiscal activities for reporting purposes and to ensure compliance with applicable agency, college, university, and state policies. Analyzes, verifies, reconciles, records, and tracks all transactions of a financial nature. Prepares integrated financial and statistical reports, financial statements, and/or budget projections for short and/or long-term impact(s) on sponsored funding.

Lead grant coordinator for the department: supervises grants support staff, including hiring, training, employee development, and evaluation. Reviews project reconciliations prepared by employee(s) and provides corrective action as needed. Serves as departmental liaison and representative for sponsored funds to various college and university entities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience. Note: Higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.
  • Ability to analyze, verify, reconcile, and track transactions of a financial nature.
  • Experience in general accounting practices.

Note: This position requires the eSPEAR certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.

Preferred
  • FSU experience.
  • Certification or education in accounting.
  • Experience in training and supervising employees.
  • Experience in sponsored funds management.
