Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Department of Educational Leadership is seeking an Assistant Professor for a 9-month Tenure-Track position in Educational Leadership. Faculty at Texas A & M University-Commerce are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach masters and/or doctoral level courses in Educational Leadership;
  • Design, implement, and publish research;
  • Advise students;
  • Prepare syllabi;
  • Update course materials;
  • Develop curriculum;
  • Deliver instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs;
  • Provide service to the department, college, university and public schools, and community; and
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
  • Chair dissertations to completion.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Earned Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Good written and oral communication skills. Commitment to high quality teaching. Dedication to high standards and student success. Scholarly publication record or scholarly potential.
  • Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid Texas Superintendent Certification
  • Teaching Experience: 3 Years of PK-12 teaching experience in a public school
  • Experience teaching or working with research projects in higher education or at the district level
  • 3 years of experience as an assistant/associate/deputy superintendent or equivalent district level administrator and/or superintendent
  • Experience teaching at the graduate school level, either face to face or online
  • Experience in online or face to face professional presentations at the local, state, or national level
  • Evidence of good written and oral communication

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Evidence of experience in chairing dissertations to completion or scholarly writing projects
  • Evidence of experience as a public school district superintendent
  • Evidence of current or recent affiliation with professional organizations supporting educational administration/leadership
  • Record of publication
