Assistant Director, Ropes Program Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 23278801 Full Time Shift Work, will include some nights and weekend shifts. $44,300 - $80,900 Position Information Reporting to the Associate Recreation Director, Programs, the incumbent is a critical member of the Recreation programming team responsible for the development, management, implementation, oversight and daily operations of the UCR Recreation Ropes Programs which includes the Challenge Course, Mobile Rock Wall and "The Rock" an indoor rock climbing and bouldering facility. Important duties include budget (revenue generating), risk management, staffing, program development and implementation, oversight of facilities maintenance, and supervision of staff. Incumbent will work closely with departmental, divisional, campus, and community partners to ensure the provision of client service based programming that meets the needs of and is inline with departmental, divisional, and campus goals and mission. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Master's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field from an accredited institution. Preferred

Conditions Condition Requirement Acquire ACCT or similar certification within 6-months of start date Required Acquire Wilderness First Responder certificate within 1-year of start date. Required Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a Challenge Course/Climbing facility. Required Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a program budget and risk management protocols. Preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising staff. Required Experience towing and hitching. Required Minimum of 3 years of rock climbing and route setting experience. Required

Minimum Requirements Advanced proficiency in the use of computer applications relevant to job duties.
Demonstrates advanced client service leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills to resolve non-standard issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Demonstrated ability to incorporate key program information for inclusion in web-based and other marketing materials.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization.
Advanced knowledge of program activity and best practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve programs and processes as needed.
Skills to deliver highly effective service orientation, program management, and make sound judgments decisions; able to use critical thinking skills to develop original and creative problem solving ideas in a varied and challenging environment.
Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
