Departmental Overview

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office (FASO) has responsibility for the functionality of the Financial Aid module of Campus Solutions, which is the student aid management system which calculates and disburses over $800 Million in financial aid to over 30,000 students annually, and for its interfaces with other campus, system-wide, federal, and state systems. Technical staff creates and maintains custom in-house applications to support financial aid activities and will play a key role in the ongoing configuration, implementation and support of the Financial Aid module of Campus Solutions.

The Business Systems Analyst applies technical expertise in the identification of business needs, optimization of systems solutions, and as liaison between the technical staff and the functional departmental users in the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. The Business Systems Analyst works with FASO's Business Systems Analysis team to support projects, and will work collaboratively with both functional and technical staff to define system requirements and troubleshoot systems issues. The Business Systems Analyst contributes to long and short term project work with vendors, divisional IT staff and functional staff in support of the mission of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

Responsibilities
  • Performs necessary system configuration and rollover tasks to support multiple Financial Aid Business Processes in Campus Solutions enterprise system. Analyzes, creates and tests complex business rules to serve functional needs of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
  • Applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex systems scope and objectives. Will balance delivery of system-driven business processes that support user needs with a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Provides feedback to vendors and/or partner offices on needed functionality in the student aid management system supporting FASO's continuous efforts to streamline work while complying with complex Federal, State and Institutional regulations and policies
  • Applies technical expertise to most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Participates in Financial Aid and Scholarships office strategic planning and leadership activities.
  • Performs complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing. Initiates, facilitates, implements and documents work process changes.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues involving all aspects of financial aid and scholarships on the campus. Includes partnership opportunities with other campus offices, including the Student Information Systems team, the Office of the Registrar, Billing and Payment Services, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and Graduate Division.
  • Provides user support and training on new applications or processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Requires thorough demonstrated knowledge of business analysis function.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge relating to the design of applications programs across the campus.
  • Requires knowledge of other related areas of IT.
  • Knowledge of department processes and procedures.
  • Requires skills associated with analysis or process and problems, information flow and architecture.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Strongly prefer knowledge of higher education, financial aid, or related field.
  • Bachelors degree in related area and/or 3-5 years of related experience/training.

Salary & Benefits
