Position Summary

The Pathobiology & Diagnostic Investigation within the College of Veterinary Medicine is looking for a dynamic individual who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. Duties include but are not limited to: responding to department/unit stakeholders during business hours; answers questions and inquiries; coordinating, composing and disseminating unit communication related to seminar series; acting as a resource for MSU travel system used by faculty and staff and processes guest travel and lodging arrangements; assisting with payment on invoices, honorariums or other departmental bills within the Kauli Financial System; providing secretarial support to the department residency program by coordinating events, communications, calendars, applications, maintaining files and databases related to this program; distributing mail for the department; providing support for clerkship rotations including communication to students and instructors and pulling updated rosters for each clerkship rotation; collecting and maintaining a database for faculty vacation time tracking; arranging and assisting with standardized office procedures as required; acting proactively, handling diverse and multiple tasks and effectively prioritizing work during frequent interruptions.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with coursework in typing and shorthand; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, calendaring and/or presentation software; typing and filing; and may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical training related to the field of employment; may require bilingual abilities in a specific language; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and familiarity with MSU processes and procedures; experience or proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite; experience supporting administrators, ability to multi-task; a self-starter who demonstrates a work ethic that includes proactive problem solving, ability to establish priorities, and meet deadlines; ability to work under pressure and adaptability to change; able to take initiative and work as part of a team; possess confidential, organizational, and communication tools; work orientation that includes problem-solving, teamwork and adaptability to change, focus on service and continuous learning for self-improvement.
