Job Description:


POSITION: Full-Time Research and Information Specialist: The Institutional Effectiveness Department; 37.5 hours per week; Non-Unit Professional Position.


SUMMARY: The Institutional Effectiveness Department at Northern Essex Community College focuses on improving institutional quality and student success. The IE Department supports all units of the college and focuses on a set of ongoing and systematic institutional processes and practices that include planning, the evaluation of programs and services, the identification and measurement of outcomes across all institutional units, and the use of quantitative and qualitative data and assessment results to inform decision-making. The IE Departments works in concert with many areas of the college, including the IE Affiliates (e.g., Data leads for different areas of the college) that serve on an IE Committee, to ensure college-wide representation.


The Research and Information Specialist will assist the Institutional Effectiveness (IE) Department by providing college-wide training for key systems that are integral to institutional data consistency and integrity. The incumbent will have keen attention to detail with maintaining our systems (e.g., Navigate, Zogotech, Qualtrics), providing creative solutions to college constituencies, and making recommendations for increased efficiencies and improvements. Additionally, this individual will support the college with qualitative research efforts (e.g., focus groups, college-surveys, etc.).


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Zogotech (30%)


  • Ensure high quality data integrity
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and validate data elements as needed
  • Develop reports and analysis using Zogotech
  • Collaborate with Systems and Research Associate to maintain data dictionary

Navigate: (50%)


- Serve as Application Administrator and content expert on Navigate platform


  • Train, test, and upgrade Navigate as needed
  • Partner with technical counterparts to troubleshoot technical issues reported by end users (Students, faculty, and staff)
  • Manage content and configurations of Navigate platform
  • Identify areas of low-adoption/utilization and propose opportunities for growth

- Provide ongoing training and support to end users


  • Conduct group and individual training sessions
  • Create and maintain training materials for end users
  • Serve as a "coach" for all faculty and staff needing support with Navigate use

Research: (20%)


- Conduct and analyze surveys including:


  • End of Year Survey/Student Experience Surveys
  • Exit Survey (gathering data about students when they leave the institution)
  • Perkins/Graduate Survey
  • ISE Survey

Universal expectations of IE Department

  • Create and maintain exceptional documentation for all activities included in job responsibilities
  • Promote high standards of data integrity in all areas of the college
  • Empower college stakeholders to better understand and interact with data
  • Participate in Data Governance activities


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of total job experience.
  • Experience maintaining business systems and technologies.
  • Demonstrated analysis and report writing skills.
  • Understanding of data management and data governance.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining effective and efficient business processes
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
  • Willingness to investigate, learn, and initiate new processes, technologies, and analytical tools.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-functional team for the purpose of planning and executing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with ethnically, cultural, and socially diverse population in a multi-campus environment.
  • Experience with application implementations or upgrade.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Three years of experience in analyzing large data sets
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of student information systems and related technologies
  • Bilingual or Bicultural (Spanish and English).
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse, population in a Hispanic-Serving Institution.


Additional Information:


SALARY: This is a full-time position with anticipated salary $60,000 annually with complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
