The Radiochemistry core is expanding their capabilities to provide investigators with PET radiotracers intended for human use. This requires meticulous record-keeping and scrupulous laboratory performance to satisfy FDA regulations for maintaining a USP <823> environment. We are hiring for a Lab Manager to assist with this work.
This role is responsible for: Maintaining and operating the Radiochemistry Core laboratory to comport with USP <823> guidelines under the supervision of the Core Director. The candidate will assist the Director in synthesizing batches of radiopharmaceuticals intended for human use, perform quality control testing necessary for final product release, and document all corresponding data in a clear and concise format.
REQUIRED Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences or equivalent
REQUIRED Experience
4 years’ experience in an educational or industrial laboratory setting. Master’s degree, PhD, or other professional training may substitute for 2-3 years of experience depending on the expertise and skills acquired during the training period.
REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be organized and meticulous in record keeping.
Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
Sufficient interpersonal skills to collaborate with a variety of highly motivated researchers from various disciplines.
Fundamental conceptual understanding of operating HPLC, GC and other analytical equipment.
REQUIRED Computer Applications
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). General computer skills.
PREFERRED Education
Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry
PREFERRED Experience
5+ years’ experience in an industrial or academic laboratory environment with CGMP laboratory experience.
Masters, PhD, and/or Postdoctoral training may substitute for 2-4 years’ experience depending on the expertise and skills acquired during the training period.
PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General background in organic chemistry including: retrosynthetic development, benchtop organic chemistry, process chemistry and other general organic chemistry skills acquired from hands-on experience and educational training.
Technical expertise in maintaining analytical equipment such as HPLC, GC, radioTLC.
Preferred Computer Applications
Knowledge of HPLC integrated software (Breeze or eqiuvalant) and Labview
