The duties of the Research Specialist I will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Grow and maintain various cell lines and access cell viability
- Conduct Western blot, PCR, ELISA Test, a variety of biological assays, and additional testing as needed
- Assist PhD and MS students in designing and performing in vitro and in vivo experiments
- Assess and maintain lab safety and ensure compliance
- Order supplies for lab
- Animal handling, treatment, organ harvesting, and tissue harvesting in the animal research facility and maintain compliance with IACUC
- Generate and present data and reports to supervisor, lab members, and external collaborators
- Participate in miscellaneous research experiments and tasks provided by supervisor
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- Animal handling and surgical experience
- B.S. degree in biology, animal science or health-related discipline
