Departmental Objective:The Office of University Advancement is responsible for leading fundraising activities for Christopher Newport University on behalf of the Christopher Newport Education Foundation by seeking contributions from “private” constituencies that include: alumni, parents, friends, faculty staff, students, corporations and foundations.
Purpose of the Position:Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, and in conjunction with the other members of the Annual Giving team and other leaders in the Advancement Office, this position will provide strategy management and implementation of Annual Giving Campaigns and special projects serving as the Annual Giving Manager for (President’s Circle and “Graduated Parents”), the Luter annual campaign and the Faculty/Staff campaign. It serves as a team member working towards both monetary and participation goals involving Alumni, Parents, Faculty and Staff, and Friends.

Outstanding customer service skills
Demonstrated knowledge of office operations
Detail-oriented with excellent computer skills in database entry, word processing and spreadsheets
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to adhere to the strict confidentiality requirement within an Advancement operation
Preferred:
Proven ability to work with, support, and manage many different personalities and leadership styles successfully
Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Required: Computer experience in data entry. Experience with word processing and spreadsheets.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :Education Preferred: College degree
Experience Preferred: Experience in a university advancement or development office. Previous professional experience working in higher education. Experience using Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.

Conditions of Employment:This is a classified position. New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12-month probationary period;
