Hiring Department POST DOCTORAL FELLOW, Chemistry Microscope Imaging and Spectroscopy Technology ResponsibilitiesThe M(icroscope) I(maging) and S(pectroscopy) T(echnology) Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UMSL houses a variety of microscopes including newly acquired field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), and laser scanning confocal microscope. Additional major instrumentation includes an LC/MS/MS (liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry) system and an ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma – atomic emission spectrometer). The successful candidate will be responsible for user training and support, providing daily support and supervision for instrument maintenance and repair, maintaining instrument software and data storage, and overseeing scheduling of instrument use and billing of users. The manager will actively cultivate and work with internal users including providing data interpretation, as well as conducting fee-based data acquisition and analysis services for external users, including those from local industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects directly associated with usage of the facilities and to publish.

This position is full time, one year renewable appointment.

Minimum QualificationsA graduate degree in a relevant area of science with direct experience in electron microscopy is required. The individual must be able to speak and write clearly and fluently in English. Preferred Qualifications
A PhD in a relevant area of science with significant experience with more than one of the instruments listed. Minimum Salary$47,500 Application Deadline
