Hiring Department POST DOCTORAL FELLOW, Chemistry X-ray Diffraction Laboratory ResponsibilitiesThe X-ray Diffraction Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UMSL houses a Bruker Venture-Duo Kappa Diffractometer, Bruker Apex II Kappa Diffractometer, and a Rigaku Ultima IV Powder Diffractometer. The successful candidate will be responsible for user training and support, providing daily support and supervision for instrument maintenance and repair, maintaining and upgrading instrument software and data storage, and overseeing scheduling of instrument use and billing of users. The manager will actively cultivate and work with internal users including providing solution of structures with data interpretation, as well as conducting fee-based data acquisition and analysis services for external users, including those from local industry and nearby academic institutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects directly associated with usage of the facilities and to publish. This position is ideal for an individual seeking to pursue a career in crystallography. This position is a full time, one year renewable appointment.

Minimum QualificationsA PhD in chemistry with direct experience with X-ray diffraction. The individual must be able to speak and write clearly and fluently in English. Preferred Qualifications
