This holistic model involves both one-on-one advising and an educational/curricular framework that helps students to define a personally meaningful vision and connects them in multi-dimensional ways to the resources, people, organizations, and opportunities that will help make their unique visions a reality. Additionally, the assistant director will collaborate with colleagues in program development and implementation for various undergraduate students. This position requires a background and strong interest in helping students who are at the beginning of their career development trajectories, and the ability to guide students through a process of self-assessment, exploration, and reflection.

  • Administer instruments and utilize a variety of assessment tools (e.g. CareerExplorer, Strong Interest Inventory, CliftonStrengths, etc.) to support student development

Undergraduate Student Career Programming

  • Design and facilitate small group activities and exercises to promote the personal reflection process
  • Assist with the development and implementation of special programs designed for first-years, sophomores, first-generation and/or low-income students, and other underrepresented groups of students
  • Create and assist with the development of guides and resources to support career exploration and early career engagement
  • Plan programs and liaise with graduate school partners to plan on-campus information sessions in programmatic areas of focus to be determined

Additional Responsibilities

  • Use online office collaboration and communication tools (Slack, Trello, etc.)
  • Contribute to broader team data collection efforts
  • Support team wide events including career fairs, departmental programs, facilitating large group career exploration workshops, and colleague supported workshops and events
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant Career Advising and Center for Career Development team meetings and retreats

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required
  • Two or more years of experience in undergraduate career counseling/advising, program development, instruction or training and development
