Position Summary

Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is a division within the University Police Department at San Diego State University. PATS employs 14 professional staff and 30 student assistants in addition to the 31 Sworn and 17 professional staff working in other divisions of the police department.

The Office Support Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day tasks related to customer support, which includes assisting at a service window, email and phone support. The support coordinator must be able to explain university parking rules, regulations and interpret policy to faculty, staff, students and guests. The support coordinator will be able to resolve day-to-day customer parking complaints, problems and questions through emails, written correspondence and/or incoming phone calls.

Under the direction of the Administrator II Director of Parking & Transportation Services, it will be the responsibility of the Office Support Coordinator to work daily in the parking management solution T2 systems to troubleshoot issues with customers. The support coordinator is responsible to provide determinations on the first level of appeals and coordinate the administrative hearing and superior court process for second level and third level when requested by the responsible party. Additionally, the support coordinator will share defensive driving program coordination duties with other officer support staff.

The expectation is the Office Support Coordinator will also be able to assist in all office operations in the absence of student assistants and other staff. The support coordinator will be trained in and expected to use all software applications in parking & transportation services.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Valid California driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience in a customer service role in a University setting
  • Proven ability to multi-task work priorities while answering calls, email and customers at the service window

Specialized Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel

Compensation and Benefits

REVISED

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,700 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,352 - $5,639 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
