Job Description

PURPOSE
  • The Executive Director, under the Associate Vice-President for Student Success and is responsible for oversight of the operational yearly budget and Programs for federal grant programs, including TRiO Programs and Title V programs. Provides leadership for departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations. Provides oversight of business activities, strategic planning and development, and program administration. Functions as departmental liaison to customers and represents the University on various committees.


DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Operations

Percent Effort: 60%
  • Provides oversight of the operational yearly budget and programmatic areas of federal grant programs, including TRiO programs and Title V programs.
  • Provides direction for the overall management of the designated programs in strategic planning, development, program administration and operations of these grant funded programs. Maintain internal and external relationships to advance mission of programs.
  • Develop and provide reports for submission including collecting and analyzing program data. Review and make certain all federal and institutional reports are submitted by deadlines. Increasing online infrastructure for student services. Increase online opportunities for students. Serves as an advisor/consultant to the University community regarding matters relating to department operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Functional Area 2: Supervision

Percent Effort: 20%
  • Ensures that the service delivery infrastructure is clear of logistical, political, and administrative obstacles. Oversees the professional activities of subordinate staff. Ensures that there are ample opportunities for all staff to grow and develop professionally.
  • Provides strategic direction, encouragement, support, and discipline (when needed) for all subordinates. Protects the stability, efficiency, effectiveness, and development of the programs. Identifies need and developing strategies to promote excellence through training, supervision, and staff development. Ensures a safe and friendly work environment.

Functional Area 3: Other

Percent Effort: 20%
  • Coordinate with external organizations or work independently to write federal grant proposals to secure funding. Develops, directs, and evaluates process compliance and internal controls. Develops policy and procedural manuals required by the Department of Education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience in management.
  • Additional education may be considered as a substation for the minimum qualifications.
    • Master's degree and eight (8) years related experience or
    • Doctoral degree and six (6) years related experience
  • Experience supervising.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong critical thinking, memorization, attention to detail, and communication skills,
  • Ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions regularly that impact student welfare and the institution.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with project management and leading large-scale initiatives.
