Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: We are looking for an active, self-motivated researcher with a background in experimental nuclear and particle physics. Experience with detectors based on liquefied noble gases is a plus.

The successful candidate will lead the upgrade, operation, and data analysis of LIXO, a system to measure angular-resolved reflectivity and photodetection efficiency of photosensors and reflective coatings in liquid xenon. The data will be used to inform the design of next-generation liquid xenon experiments searching for dark matter and neutrinoless double beta decay, namely DARWIN and nEXO. The group also participates in optical simulations for DARWIN and development of advanced machine learning methods using the EXO-200 data, as well as in studies of ordinary muon capture relevant to understanding gA quenching in neutrinoless double beta decay.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics. Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment.

Skills and Knowledge: Background in Nuclear or Particle Physics.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with R&D of detectors based on liquified noble gases. Experience with CAD software. Experience with data analysis and software development using Python, ROOT.
