Sarah Lawrence College, a co-educational liberal arts college located 15 miles from New York City, characterized by a strong and influential history of progressive education, seeks candidates for the position of Senior Associate Director of International Admission.
Although a small college, Sarah Lawrence has a large global network, and consistently enrolls students from over 50 countries around the world. SLC’s academic model combines small seminars characteristic of U.S. liberal arts colleges with a tutorial system based on Oxford/Cambridge-style donning, making it an especially appealing option for many international applicants.Essential Duties Summary:
This position will be a leadership position, tasked with promoting the college to prospective students and families abroad, with particular focus in East Asia. This will include significant contributions to expanding the communications streams to international prospective students, and collaborating with the College’s Alumni Affairs office to partner with SLC alums around the world, as well as convening an advisory committee of current international students to help serve as ambassadors.
This position will include: 4-6 weeks of travel annually (pending the lifting of travel restrictions) both in the United States and internationally; conducting information sessions and interviews with prospective students, both on and off campus; contributing to the development of an international communication stream; maintaining open lines of communication and fostering ongoing conversations with prospective students and families, as well as guidance and college counselors; reading applications and serving on admissions committees.
Additional duties as assigned. Must be willing to travel and work extended hours, evenings, and weekends when necessary.Required Qualifications:
The position requires excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, the ability to work well independently and as part of a highly collaborative team, the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze data to inform decision making are essential. Familiarity and/or proficiency in languages relevant to primary recruiting markets preferred.
Must have at least a bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, a valid U.S. passport, and a strong devotion to promoting the transformative qualities of a liberal arts education.Posting Number:
