Job Description:

Sarah Lawrence College, a co-educational liberal arts college located 15 miles from New York City, characterized by a strong and influential history of progressive education, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant and/or Associate Director of Admission.

Essential Duties Summary:

Primary responsibilities include managing all aspects of a significant geographic territory, from recruitment to enrollment. This position will include: 5-7 weeks of travel annually (when travel restrictions are lifted) to visit high schools, college fairs, and community-based organizations; conducting information sessions and interviews with prospective students, both on and off campus; maintaining open lines of communication and fostering ongoing conversations with prospective students and families, as well as guidance and college counselors; reading applications and serving on admissions committees.

This position may also involve coordinating relationships with various offices across campus, student groups, and/or other campus communities. Opportunities to work with current students and campus events, contribute to communications and social media streams, or other secondary responsibilities may also be available for individuals with relevant backgrounds.

Additional duties as assigned. Must be willing to travel and work extended hours, evenings, and weekends when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

The position requires excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, the ability to work well independently and as part of a highly collaborative team, the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze data to inform decision making are essential.

Must have at least a bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and a strong dedication to promoting the transformative qualities of a liberal arts education.
