Dean of the Driehaus College of Business

DePaul University

Chicago, Illinois

DePaul University (DePaul) seeks a visionary and entrepreneurial Dean to lead the Driehaus College of Business (Driehaus). This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative and mission-driven individual to join a welcoming community as an important campus leader at the largest Catholic university in the country.

Founded in 1898, DePaul is located in the heart of Chicago, one of the world’s largest and most diverse cities. Named after St. Vincent de Paul, the 17th century French priest who devoted his life to serving and caring for others, DePaul has always been an institution that serves first-generation and low-income students. The Vincentian mission to serve the public good and give people of all ethnicities and faiths the opportunity to receive a college education remains at the heart of the University.

Driehaus College of Business is the nation’s 10th-oldest business school and the first within an American Catholic University. Located in Chicago’s downtown Loop business district, the College is intrinsically connected to Chicago’s robust business community and ideally positioned to provide its students with the unique combination of theory and practical experience necessary to ensure their success in the marketplace. Grounded in Catholic and Vincentian values, the College actively lives out its mission of developing responsible leaders and managers who are prepared to add value in today’s diverse and globalized society. The College offers the largest undergraduate business program in Chicago and numerous highly ranked graduate programs through the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business (housed within the College). With 66% of students remaining local after graduation and a total of 70,000 alumni living and working in the Chicagoland area, Driehaus is the backbone of the Chicago business community, and the next Dean of the College will have the opportunity to cement its reputation as “Chicago’s Business School.” At the same time, international programs and online offerings extend the College’s reach beyond this global city.

Reporting to DePaul’s Provost, Dr. Salma Ghanem, the Dean serves as the chief executive officer of the College and is responsible for the quality of academic programs and for managing the fiscal resources, human resources, and the physical facilities of the College.

To ensure continued progress toward Driehaus’s 2024 Strategic Plan: Connection, Culture, and Commitment, the Dean will be nimble at managing both internal and external priorities and activities for the College. The Dean will provide support for the faculty, staff, and students by creating a positive environment for teaching, research, and service to DePaul University and its surrounding communities. As the public face of Driehaus, the Dean will enthusiastically tell its story to alumni, corporate leaders, and high-potential supporters in the city of Chicago, the Midwest region and beyond.

Driehaus College of Business is the largest academic unit on DePaul’s campus, and it is imperative that the Dean leads the way in supporting and promoting the university-wide initiatives around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging that are so firmly rooted in DePaul’s mission. More specifically, the Dean will work to advance the diversity of faculty, staff, and students from historically underrepresented groups, articulate an understanding of the educational and social value of a diverse community, and foster an inclusive educational and workplace climate.
