Position Summary:

The UCI School of Education is focused on advancing educational sciences and contributing to improved educational opportunities and outcomes for individuals across the entire lifespan. A diverse, dynamic and collaborative institution, the School of Education's research, community partnerships and programming are dedicated to producing innovative scholarship, addressing the needs of local schools, and inspiring future generations of educators.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced academic adviser. Provides advice to students on the full range of requirements for a department, college, or school with a wide variety of course requirements. Recommends solutions to progression and requirement issues. Advice may include not-clearly-defined programs such as independent study programs, interdisciplinary programs, or multiple programs. Works independently under general supervision.

$20.02-$30.51

Required:

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases. Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations. Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars. Ability in problem identification and reasoning. Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.

Preferred:

Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Understanding of University rules and regulations.
