Building Technician, Fs Zone Maintenance - Dining Services

Regular, Full-time - MR05

The Building Technician II repairs and performs routine maintenance on all food service mechanical/electrical within the envelope of buildings and perimeter. This division maintains all food service facilities and related equipment including: lights, HVAC equipment, restrooms, etc. The Building Technician II will assign work, order parts, mentor new employees (within zone), and verify completion of jobs. The desired candidate will also be tasked with staying in constant communication with all team members and assist in problem solving situations. The Building Technician II will also perform essential duties as needed including but not limited to: scheduling coverage for any event/situation that may arise due to weather, customer schedules, or in an emergency situation. Will fill-In when the Foreman ls out and will be relied on to complete the duties described within the Foreman's (Position Description) with the exception of disciplinary action to ensure compliance regarding Human Resources policies and procedures. Contributes to the overall success of Facilities Services by performing other essential duties (for example: snow removal) and responsibilities as assigned. Assists in the Implementation and establishment of preventive and preventative maintenance programs.



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent required. Five to eight years of verifiable experience of building maintenance and/or food service facility maintenance. Must have proven management or leadership skills in a team environment. Must be able to properly interact with staff, students, visitors, and co-workers. 

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

Applicant must be able to wear a respirator. 

The applicant should have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, staff, and university personnel and work with others in a respectful, cooperative manner.  Also, applicant must be able to communicate very effectively and coordinate with building occupants in assisting with events and other special needs.  Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance, be in good physical health and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.  Applicant should have the ability to climb ladders, work in high places, noisy environments and flashing lights.
