Summary of Duties

The Instructor has the responsibility for developing and delivering innovative electronic and micro-electronic curricula for all department programs and certificates. Knowledge in the integration with robotics, automated systems, and artificial Intelligence a plus. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively and effectively with industry and colleagues. The instructor needs to have experience providing student support and instruction; and demonstrated ability to work with struggling or at-risk learners by disseminating difficult topics in a manner that students will understand and grasp.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach up to eighteen (18) contact hours weekly in assigned day, evening, or weekend courses. Able to teach alternative delivery modalities including flipped classes, cohort and hybrid course content.
  • Provide 10 office hours weekly for student advising, curriculum development, assessment activity, etc.
  • Provide 12 hours weekly of college and community service (committees, meetings, professional development, etc...).
  • Develop courses and programs for both credit and non-credit students with embedded industry certificates.
  • Use innovative learning techniques to deliver course content and labs.
  • Ability to teach all courses within specific program or certificate.

  • Assist with recommendations for equipment, software/hardware purchases, instruction scheduling, use of facilities, and other related contractual items.
  • Assist with Marketing projects and promotion of the College and STEM programs through a variety of activities.
  • Develop professionally by continuing to seek and learn new knowledge and skills in engineering technology and other associated areas.
  • Actively participate in divisional, college committees, and related activities.
  • Be committed to implementation of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the Technology and Liberal Studies Division.
  • Perform other similar duties as required.

    Required:

  • Three to five years' demonstrated industry experience and one to three years' teaching experience at college level or training experience in industry.
  • Committed to the two-year college mission, quality instruction and willing to work evening or weekend hours as needed.
  • Reliable, conscientious and able to work independently and must be detail oriented and a self-starter.
  • Education & Certifications

    Required:

  • Bachelor Degree, applicable engineering field or engineering technology field
  • Preferred:
    • Masters Degree, applicable engineering field or engineering technology field.
    • Current industry certifications and/or professional licensure.
