Job Description:

Provides accurate, timely, and sustainable solutions to end user computer and networking problems to ensure end user productivity for all College of the Arts (COTA) clients. Assist supervisor in managing day-to-day operations related to desktop and mobile computer use. Primary initial contact and responder for all COTA IT helpdesk tickets. Assists supervisor with COTA hardware and software troubleshooting, configuration of new computer deployments, software installation management, and software licensing. Also manages and documents other types of technology requests. Responsible for time management and prioritization of workflow with supervisor oversight and guidance. Communicates progress and operational flow to supervisor to enable collaborative strategic team action.

Serves as initial contact for technical consulting for COTA faculty, staff and other appropriate clients. Assists and sometimes leads the building of new computers, repairing, replacing or configuring malfunctioning hardware, other peripherals, software, and mobile devices. Evaluates and gathers initial information on end user IT challenges, working to resolve them individually or in collaboration with supervisor. Acts as the liaison between the end user and his/her supervisor for technical advice and teamwork on strategic problem resolution. Maintains office organization on a daily basis. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and will be expected to move, setup and break down computer equipment efficiently and neatly. Follows all UF policies and specifications in all activities.

Assists supervisor with equipment management and tracking manually and in the UF asset management system.

Assists supervisor with purchasing, processing, and inventory duties.

May assist with Active Directory management, maintaining standard college naming conventions in the UFAD structure, managing objects responsibly under the guidance of his/her supervisor. May also assist in UF Exchange mailbox and object management, maintaining standard college naming conventions in the UF Exchange structure, managing mailboxes and administration as needed under the guidance of his/her supervisor.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$45,000-$53,000; Negotiable based on qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 2 or more years of related experience.

  • Passion for computer hardware and problem solving.

  • Excellent communication skills, and a desire to provide excellent and collaborative customer service.

  • Experience with multiple versions of dual platform operating systems and Office suite software

  • Broad knowledge of multiple computer environments, platforms and technologies

  • Willingness and ability to learn and support new evolving technologies and software related to the college and its goals

  • Possess general troubleshooting and diagnostic skills concerning computer hardware and software including Windows 10, Mac OSX, MS Office Suite - Office 2010 thru Office 365, and general business-related software

  • Mac OS experience

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts
