JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Under the direction of the GSM Research Leader, this position performs as the Research Study Coordinator. The position will assist faculty with clinical research study activities including but not limited to the submission and management of regulatory paperwork, the submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and annual renewals, preparation and maintenance of study files and essential trial documents.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruits participants for new study visit by explaining procedures and benefits of participating.
  2. Facilitates informed consent/assent process in accordance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines while utilizing understanding of inclusion/exclusion criteria. 
  3. Completes study visits with participants as specified in the study protocol via face-to-face meetings, telephone conversations, and mailings. 
  4. Assists investigators with the development of design studies.
  5. Assists investigator with the IRB Continuing Review process that includes the completion of study status reports.
  6. Prepares study specific protocols, source documents/spreadsheets, drafts of required study logs and essential trial documents, and prepares files.
  7. Assists investigator with the execution and coordination of GSM Investigator-Initiated Clinical Research.
  8. Assists in screening potential subjects, reviewing and documenting patient medical histories and concurrent medication lists, obtaining informed consent from patients, coordination of study visits and procedures to be completed on campus, collection of study data, performing study assessments if needed (lab draws, questionnaires, vital signs, etc.) for Investigator-Initiated Studies. 
  9. Establishes and maintains contact with study participants and families, community agencies, and health care providers.
  10. Assists with the management and maintenance of Subject Source Documents.
  11. Performs other duties assigned.


Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in relevant health field.  (Registered Nurse (RN), LPN, or CMA, preferred) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) year of clinical research experience; OR Master’s Degree will be accepted in lieu of experience. OR combination of education and related work experience to equal nine (9) years.  Clinical research experience, including consenting subjects and following a research study protocol is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time-management and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make good clinical judgment. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team. Ability to obtain Human Subject Protection and other applicable certifications within the first four weeks of employment.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally work evenings and weekends
