Job Summary

Responsibilities: Majority of responsibilities involve application lifecycle management for technologies utilized by UWG Auxiliary Services, including continuously identifying areas for process and system improvement and recommending solutions to meet changing business needs, performing hardware and software installation, patching and upgrading, developing and maintaining test documentation, providing server and middleware support, assisting users in maximizing existing system functionality, optimizing system settings to support functional & strategic requirements, increasing automation through scripts and re-configuration of applications, developing customizations for supported systems, configuring and maintaining supported systems and end point devices, documenting and maintaining technical architecture, SOPs, and user manuals for supported systems and hardware user administration, creating documentation to assist end users and support teams with specific incidents, providing user training, assistance, and consulting on use of systems and web-based solutions, providing data or reports to satisfy user requests, and defining/creating data interfaces. Also, conducting hardware audits, inventory record keeping and maintenance during equipment lifespan, developing, implementing, and routinely testing backup/restoration processes to ensure business continuity and/or disaster recovery process for systems and data, managing upcoming technology changes with vendors and campus partners, and liaising with end users, technical teams, functional managers, and project management office. Managing security and risk management activities for supported systems and applications, working with security officer to identify security issues and running scans to verify and resolve issues, and creating user accounts and granting appropriate access. Supervision of Application Support Associate and 1-2 student workers, including providing training, direction, review of work, and feedback, and assigning tasks related to items in ticketing system, bearing ultimate accountability.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and two years experience with the following: Application Support Lifecycle; technical troubleshooting within application systems; identifying and recommending process improvements and using Business process Management/Modeling techniques; scripting technologies; middleware configuration and performance tuning; Systems Development Life Cycle process, including specification, documentation, quality assurance and creation of test and implementation plans; higher education ERP systems; working with various academic or business units outside IT environment and across disciplines to process and blend information from technical, business, and operational perspectives to provide consultations, recommendations, and presentations to stakeholders at multiple levels, including executive leadership; technical communication with multiple IT groups; and balancing multiple projects with conflicts and time pressures constructively and efficiently to meet organizational needs. Required experience may be gained concurrently.
