Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Director, Global Military Programs. This position develops and manages curricular and co-curricular military international programs, including partnerships, to enhance cadet global competencies in support of the UNG Strategic Plan. International military program oversight includes short and semester academic exchanges, international cadet conferences, internships, visiting scholars, and cadet military training. Ensure programs adhere to applicable international policies and procedures. Administrative functions include promoting and recruiting cadets for programs; course registration; coordinating with partner organizations; developing, reviewing, and maintaining procedures; collaborating with applicable UNG entities; and communicating and advising cadets and faculty. Maintain and share accurate data through Terra Dotta and Banner systems. Represent UNG at state, regional, national, and international conferences. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the cadet military internship program. Administer surveys, collect and analyze data, and provide results to applicable UNG entities. Facilitate coordination for housing, transportation, work visa, and other administrative and logistical requirements with international internship partners and cadets/students. Collaborate with Career Services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local workplace requirements.
  • Provide international military scholar support services. Supervise and coordinate incoming and outgoing visiting military scholars. Work with deans and department heads to accept military scholars in the areas of academic research, teaching, and guest lecturing. Coordinate funding, orientation, housing, transportation, immigration, and other requirements for military scholar placement.
  • Manage budgets, to include Agency, Sales & Services (14000), foundation international scholarship fund, scholar lodging fund, and named scholarship programs. Act as the signatory authority on all accounts related to international military and intern programming. Manages international scholarship programs in support of cadet internationalization. Seeks program funding and grant funding for Global Military Programs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships (all military programs and international internships) by negotiating and annually updating Memorandums of Understanding or Agreement among international partners, university counsel, and CGE.
  • Use the risk management system to reduce the university¿s liability and risk of harm to students and cadets abroad by identifying risks, developing and implementing controls, supervising to ensure controls are in place, and evaluating outcomes to ensure compliance and improve the system. Controls include conducting pre-departure orientation, administering cultural training, reporting incidents (Cleary), purchasing international insurance, and managing crises.
  • Ensure all international visiting scholars and students are in compliance with U.S. immigration laws.
  • Promote and recruit programs through social media, advertising, news stories, print materials, international exchange and internship web sites, Terra Dotta, grant and scholarship programs, study abroad fairs, new student orientation, career fairs, and UNG open house.
  • Plan and host incoming international dignitary and delegation visits, and assist with coordinating UNG president and cabinet travel to visit international military events.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required.
  • Ten (10) years of Military service is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Higher Education Administration preferred.
  • Experience working with Banner is preferred
