The Office of Accreditation, Assessment, and Evaluation, (AAE) develops and oversees the strategies to:
- Continuously monitor and actively report on the outcomes of student learning experiences and faculty involvement with student assessment.
- Enable the delivery of a complex, integrated competency-based curriculum through the learning management system.
- Fulfill processes and functions related to maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.

The role of the Lead Evaluation Data Analyst is to support functions of a comprehensive 4-year program evaluation strategy using a continuous quality improvement approach. The analyst will synthesize quantitative and qualitative evaluation and assessment data to produce comprehensive 360-degree program evaluation and outcome reports.


This position will develop and report out on performance of the MD program, supporting the College’s mission to continuously improve the students’ learning experience, as well as support all reporting requirements for accreditation and in partnership with the AAMC.

The Lead Evaluation Data Analyst will provide guidance and support to the Evaluation Data Analyst.

Duties and Responsibilities:

50% Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Work with team leaders to identify, evaluate, and maintain proficiency with a range of specific tools to generate and analyze data needed for program evaluation and to support accreditation. Tools include analysis software such as R, SAS, SPSS and other quantitative, evaluation software.
  • Analyze Qualitative data using NVivo, Dedoose or another comparable qualitative analysis software packages.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate appropriate data collection modalities (such as electronic surveys); lead their development and administration. Design and develop standard questions, surveys, and associated libraries to support standardization across courses and cohorts.
  • Extract data from surveys/methods of collection. Develop/build data queries. Pull data from back end of data surveys.
  • Link survey data to secondary data sources to map survey responses to course, program and college-level evaluation outcome and benchmarks.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with stakeholders to support accurate interpretation and use of report findings.
  • Use journey-level expertise to lead and guide the Unit to work proactively with all Offices and Committees within the College of Medicine and other university stakeholders. Ensure all information provided to the team is accurate and timely.
  • Interpret and analyze data using univariate and bivariate statistical methods to compare group means, proportions and ranks.
  • Utilize data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI to complement written reports and oral presentations in collaboration with the Assessment Unit.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Power BI to share and visualize aggregate data in a secure and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and maintain an evaluation data warehouse. Develop methods for data entry, cleaning, validation, and extraction. Troubleshoot issues with data and escalate to supervisor as needed.
  • Design, develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency, security, and data quality. Lead the Evaluation Data Analyst in these activities.
  • Process confidential data and information according to academic and FERPA guidelines.
  • Acquire and compare data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases. Use data analysis techniques to compare performance across sites.
  • Oversee the administration of master data, including creation, updates, and deletion.
  • Perform testing and validation of data sets.
  • Create high-level narrative reports (including graphs, charts, and tables) that present qualitative/quantitative data and present key findings. Based on analyses and visualization, report findings, trends, and provide expert recommendations. Share reports with internal team and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provide journey-level expertise in collaboration with faculty, staff and students to identify metrics for monitoring, and determine and address data and reporting needs. Design and develop reports based on such feedback. Problem solve issues or challenges related to analytics that arise, collaborating with others when necessary.
  • Develop and deliver professional-level reports to College leadership, faculty, and committees.

35% Data Systems and Storage Analysis

  • Organize, evaluate, and establish new or upgraded academic software or academic platforms; guide strategic decisions on new systems.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to identify current and future needs for data storage, analysis, and reporting.
  • Identify efficiencies, problems, inaccuracies in internal systems, and design, develop, and lead the maintenance of, protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data. Lead the implementation of identified necessary changes.
  • Provide high-level technical expertise on data storage structures, data cleansing, data analyses and report writing.
  • Work with IT to troubleshoot reporting database environment and reports.

10% Office Support

  • Lead in managing the messaging to students, faculty, and others regarding processes and protocols of office.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings with students, faculty, and staff with the Associate Dean and other members of the Evaluation team.
  • Lead or support meetings that pertain to reporting, program evaluation and accreditation statistics.

5% Other

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree including college level course work in statistics and/or mathematics AND one (1) year of experience working as a Data Consultant 1 or equivalent OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision making.
  • Strong analytical capabilities including evaluation, analysis, and data visualization.
  • Expert with Microsoft Excel and analytical tools.
  • Experience with electronic survey platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Well-developed professional writing and presentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business administration, computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in a data analyst or relevant role.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling unstandardized, mixed qualitative and quantitative datasets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA.
  • Understanding of data gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling/diagramming techniques.
