Summary Description::

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Life and Equity, the Manager of the Student Equity Program will organize and coordinate the daily operations of the Student Equity Program; manage the development, administration, implementation, and evaluation of program operations; handle emergency operational situations and budget-related issues that will assist in the functional operations of the
assigned areas of the college; train, provide work direction to, exercise functional and technical supervision, and evaluate the performance of classified professionals and student employees; perform a variety of technical tasks related to the areas of assignment; administer annual operations budgets; and ensure compliance with District policies and applicable state and federal regulations related to the college’s student equity program.
The Manager of the Student Equity Program will administer the program through the lens of an equityminded leader. The Manager will actively engage in developing and promoting a climate and culture of fairness, equity, and inclusion; foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and continuous improvement throughout the District; lead by example; actively participate in and support District-wide participatory governance components and activities and other collaborative processes; encourage professional excellence among the staff; and promote an organizational culture of customer service, innovation and quality services.

Exercises functional and technical supervision over assigned classified professionals, student staff and contractual personnel.

Education and Experience Guidelines::

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Education/Training::

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a public administration, business administration or other related field or discipline is preferred, supplemented by specialized training in Diversity and Sensitivity Training, EEO Training, office administration, supervision and operations, or a closely related field. A master’s
degree with a major in business administration or other related field or discipline is preferred.

Experience::

At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the planning and execution of Student Equity programs, services and activities in the support of disproportionately impacted student communities or similar duties involved with equity and inclusion initiatives preferably in an academic environment. Prior experience in approaching work and interactions with
colleagues and/or students in an equity minded manner. Ability to provide an inclusive and welcoming work/educational environment including, or supplemented by, at least one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.

License or Certificate::

A valid California driver’s license.

Work Environment::

Standard office setting. Duties are performed primarily in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer workstation. Work also requires travel to various community locations to scout locations for classes, attend meetings or otherwise conduct work. Incumbents are subject to contact with students, frequent interruptions, including noise from talking or office equipment, and demanding legal, District and college timelines. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Physical Demands::

Primary job functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting.
