Lecturers – Computer Science (multiple positions)
The Department of Computer Science & Electrical Engineering (CSEE) in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at Eastern Washington University invites applications for multiple lecturer positions in Computer Science to begin September 2021.
Eastern Washington University is a midsize regional, comprehensive institution offering liberal arts and professional undergraduate and graduate programs in Cheney, Spokane, and elsewhere in Washington State. The Spokane metropolitan area is home to over 400,000 diverse residents and offers great four-season outdoor recreational opportunities and a vibrant arts and cultural community.
The Department of CSEE offers academic programs leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees: the ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), the Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), the Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS), and the Professional Master of Computer Science (MCS).

Eastern Washington University is a regional, comprehensive public university located in Cheney and Spokane, Washington, with programs offered throughout the state and online with an enrollment of over 12,000 students. Conditions of Employment:This position may be required to teach on two campuses, Cheney and Spokane Catalyst Building. The two campuses are 20 minutes apart.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
Note: Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2021-22, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.

Required Qualifications:- MS in Computer Science or a closely related field;
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as instructor of record, of undergraduate Computer Science coursework;
- Demonstrated ability to apply culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
- Preference may be given to candidates who offer one year of college-level teaching experience;
- Preference may be given to candidates who can teach Computer Engineering, Computer Architecture, Web Programming (PHP preferred), Computer Networking, and Operating Systems;

Responsibility / Duty:Teaching: Typical workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs.
Teaching includes the following additional related responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA.
- Meet all scheduled classes;
- Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales;
- Schedule and attend office hours;
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines.
Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.
