Position Summary

The Center for Inclusive Excellence elevates, celebrates, and supports the diverse faculty and staff of San Diego State through professional learning, community building, advocacy, policy recommendations, and organizational structures. We aim to foster an affirming campus culture based on the core values of excellence, equity, diversity, belonging, and inclusion through the recruitment of faculty and staff who are reflective of the diverse students and communities served by SDSU; fostering an environment of inclusion for faculty and staff from underrepresented groups; enhancing the career pathways of faculty and staff from underrepresented groups, and cultivating relationships with the local community that advance the well-being of diverse individuals and communities.

The Equity Analyst in collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Associate Vice President of Faculty and Staff Diversity, will be responsible for supporting the development of benchmarks, assessments, and reporting structures to improve the efficacy of diversity-related programming and equity-minded practices across the campus. The analyst will also support the implementation of diversity planning by providing data that can support the university and departmental-level collective sense-making. The Equity Analyst will also support the oversight of campus climate assessments in collaboration with Analytic Studies and other relevant offices.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related area, with coursework in social science methods, education, psychology, evaluation or research, and survey design
  • Experience with Qualtrics; SPSS or other statistical software

Specialized Skills

  • Has expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in inclusive and cross-cultural communication
  • Proven knowledge of diversity and social justice issues including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious, and class background
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to provide leadership in addressing complex and sensitive problems with tact and diplomacy
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching, and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to gather, organize and perform analysis related to organizational structure, systems, practices, and policies

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,693 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,693 - $8,489 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
