Position Summary

This position supports the university’s enterprise endpoint management systems including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, and Jamf. This position is primarily responsible for backend support of these enterprise endpoint management systems and also collaborates and provides training and support for these systems to the university’s desktop support groups, in particular User Services.

The person holding this position is required to complete a State of California Department of Justice Live Scan.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in operating systems programs, maintenance, and systems administration features is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical training and/or experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Operating Systems Analyst include a working knowledge of the assigned computer operating systems, systems analysis, and systems-level programming.

Specialized Skills Required:

  • Intermediate to advanced skill level with Intune
  • Intermediate skill level with PowerShell scripting
  • Intermediate skill level with Windows Autopilot
  • Intermediate skill level with Group Policy
  • Experience supporting Windows Update for Business (WUFB), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or similar system
  • Experience supporting anti-virus management software
  • Experience supporting a large enterprise Active Directory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Jamf or a similar system
  • Experience supporting third party application patching/updates using Patch My PC, Manage Engine Patch Manager or other similar patching applications
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with varying levels of the organization
  • Ability to be productive in a team environment and help contribute to a positive team effort

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $7,416 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
