Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Executive Director for the Office of the CIO, Boca Raton, FL.

In support of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Executive Director for the Office of the CIO provides leadership and guidance in critical areas of technology administration at the University, including resource development and allocation, policy formation, technology evaluation, and service development, delivery, and deployment.

Assists the CIO in managing business operations to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and information technology (IT) operational effectiveness. Provides dynamic leadership, direction, and support at the institution with broad-reaching institutional and/or statewide impact. Participates in budget discussions and long-term planning. Analyzes technology trends and advancement in areas of specialization and plans for the long-term direction of the IT organization. This role will be pivotal to the continued digital transformation of Florida Atlantic University in its quest to help build on its success in improving student outcomes. The successful candidate must embrace the collaborative, service-oriented nature of the Office of Information Technology.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists with the oversight of the semi-decentralized IT operations across the University.
  • Responsible for the oversight of cross-institutional initiatives and executive-level projects, fostering strategic partnerships in carrying out enterprise-wide computing services for the central IT organization.
  • Oversees vendor relationships and contract review and management.
  • Oversees the application development and ERP support teams.
  • Assists the CIO in leading overall IT strategic planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing IT initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technology projects.
  • Assists the CIO with governance oversight, project and portfolio management, and service delivery management.
  • Responsible for directing key services within the division with broad-reaching institutional and/or statewide impact.
  • Provides dynamic leadership for planning, developing, and implementing IT initiatives.
  • Leads the development and implementation of best practices and standards in process, design, architecture, and operations of all aspects of service-oriented IT delivery.
  • Directs programs to monitor, evaluate, and improve customer service delivery. Responsible for the oversight of Agile methodologies within the Office of Information Technology.
  • Provides input during the budgeting cycle to recognize cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and seven years of appropriate experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
