Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Physician Assistant Program.

Abilities and Skills:

*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
*Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, the medical community, and the public. (Minimum)
*Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
*Must meet health and safety requirements (MMR, hepatitis B, varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, annual influenza vaccination, PPD testing, etc.) as required for physician assistant students. (Minimum)
*Must be certified in Basic Life Support and maintain certification while employed in this role. (Minimum)
*Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)
*Knowledge of current concepts in physician assistant practice. (Minimum)
*Knowledge and understanding of educational theory, clinical instruction, and evaluation. (Desired)

Education:

Physician Assistant Track:
*Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program (Minimum)
*Current NCCPA certification (minimum)
*Currently licensed, or board-eligible to become licensed, as a physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (Minimum)
*Master’s degree or higher in physician assistant or related discipline (Desired) – OR_ bachelor’s degree in physician assistant students AND obligation to complete a master’s degree in a related discipline within two (2) years of hire. (Minimum)
Physician Track:
*Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. (Minimum)

Experience:

*Three (3) years clinical experience as a healthcare provider. (Desired)
*Two (2) years teaching experience in higher education. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Instruct, supervise, and evaluate student performance in physician assistant didactic, clinical, pre-clinical, and laboratory courses/seminars. (Essential)
-Assume responsibility for developing, coordinating, and maintaining classroom, pre-clinical, and laboratory experiences. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)
-Participate in the student admissions and review processes. (Essential)
-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Assist with curriculum review, revision, and development; write and update course syllabi. (Essential)
-Actively participate in the ARC-PA Accreditation process by working with the program and college leadership to ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards. (Essential)
-Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the PA program’s curriculum and instructional experiences in order to achieve/maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards while also giving our students the best educational experiences possible. (Essential)
-Assist with data collection, outcomes assessment, and document construction for accreditation self-study, annual assessment reporting, and program review. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and new technological activities in order to upgrade skills and knowledge base. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through Program and School participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College committee participation. (Marginal)
-Attend educational conferences and designated programs which support PA education and practice. (Marginal)
-Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Marginal)

*Occasional travel to off-campus clinical sites may be required.
*State Police, ChildLine, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) will be required on selected candidate before employment can begin.
*Day, evening, and weekend hours may be required to meet the needs of the physician assistant program.

As such, are required to use the following elements of the Learning Management System (LMS): Upload all syllabi, timely use of the grade feature, and collection of digital student work and distribution of digital course materials.

Additional Information:

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.
