Job Summary:

The Instructor will receive program guidance from the Vocational Nursing Program Coordinator and reports directly to the the Chair of the Allied Health Department. The duties of this position includes instruction in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction and supervision. Serves on assigned committees, advises and recruits students. Continues professional development. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a Registered Nurse and have a current license to practice in the State of Texas. Three (3) years of nursing experience following graduation from an approved nursing program. Must be currently employed in nursing or nursing education for the previous three (3) years.

Minimum degree: Associate Degree in Nursing

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Able to understand the teaching and evaluation methodologies used in the total instructional process.
Knowledge of curriculum development.
Able to work with little or no supervision.
High degree of communication skills, written and spoken.
Able to evaluate programs and procedures.
Able to deal with parents, students, faculty and staff in a professional manner.
Able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Able to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments.
Able to establish effective working relationships with others.
Able to positively promote the campus image.
Able to follow college policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:
Normal classroom and lab setting. Some online teaching my be required. Clinical experiences are typically performed in the hospital, community setting, nursing homes and simulation lab. Some hazardous conditions exist.

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience, experience in public speaking, and experience using Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint.
A desire to work as part of a team.
Experience in BlackBoard Learning Platform.

Preferred degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher.

Commensurate with experience plus benefits
