This position is within the Renovations Department of Facilities Management Services.Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:15 pm The Director, of Facilities Renovations Department will support the campus community by providing high quality, cost effective renovation services to the university's facilities in a timely manner. This is accomplished by utilizing both internal and external resources. Build to current building codes and regulations while providing flexibility and meeting aggressive project schedules and savings to the university while maintaining a high degree of craftsmanship. Facilities Renovations strives to continue a tradition of quality workmanship in a professional environment, while promoting employee development and supporting the strategic goals of the universityDuties:
- Responsible for directing, planning, and coordinating Facility Modification Requests (FMRs) for construction projects on the Atlanta and metropolitan campuses Directs, assigns and supervises Project Superintendents and managers by establishing project scope, budget and schedule; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders.
- Responsible for meeting operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements. Responsible for directing and manage all renovations operations, establish annual goals and performance objectives including the development of metrics to track and report on performance. Approves renovation projects by conducting inspections at critical phases, obtaining approvals from Customers. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Responsible for managing and monitoring the hiring of Renovation staff. Directs training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to GSU policies and procedures and evaluations.
- Responsible for conducting weekly project meetings with Project Superintendents, Business Manager, IIT, FMDS Admin and Estimator to review projects scope, estimates, scheduling and project budgets. Responsible for reviewing and Investigate Over Budgets Issues (Monthly) with Business Manager. Responsible for monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions; providing project annual operating and capital budget information.
- Responsible for ensuring that all building codes, standards, fire codes, and safety precautions are adhered to by the sub-contractor and employees. Responsible for evaluating, and selecting sub-contractors, monitoring, and controlling performance. Responsible for all coordination of all projects assigned to Renovations department with the Fire Safety Officer.
- Direct the maintaining of over 2,500 video cameras for the University and install new as needed.
- Responsible for projects, monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.
The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
