Under the general supervision of the Director of Information Security, this position responsible for supporting proactive risk management planning and activities, essential to reducing business and IT risks. Examples include performing continuous vulnerability management, conducting risk assessments and developing remediation roadmaps, developing and maturing cybersecurity awareness, training, and education programs for our large diverse community of users, to fundamentally change the behavior of our users and ultimately change the culture of security at GSU.The scope of responsibilities for this position will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following,
- Perform targeted research to identify Security solutions, policies, and practices that support the goals and objectives defined in the Information Security Annual plans and Information Security Management System objectives/goals.
- Deploys information Security services that can be accessed and employed by departmental information Security staff and the general University population to increase the overall security of their systems and the campus network. Creates and maintains necessary documentation and procedures to support new and current information Technology Security tools and solutions.
- Assist with conducting advanced intrusion detection and analysis utilizing information security monitoring systems and works in tandem with other IIT personnel to diagnose and mitigate security incidents and threats to university IT resources and data. Configures and maintains information security solutions ensuring optimum levels of effectiveness and usage.
- Work with GSU stakeholders and teams across the spectrum of the university’s college and business unites, and well as third-party vendors for services such as Critical Infrastructure Systems, Networks, Applications, and cloud systems. Assist with supporting laaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) MaaS (Monitoring as a Service), MDM (Mobile Device Management), CAMP (Cloud Application Management for Platforms), DaaS (Desktop as a Service), HPC (High-Performance Computing), MSS (Managed Security Services), CAMP (Cloud Application Management for Platforms), XaaS (Anything as a Service). Increased responsibility in the successful implementation of Standards such as NIST 800-171 and SANS Critical Controls. Under supervision, support of the Georgia State University Cyber Security program in determining tools and procedures required to preserve, collect and analyze electronically stored information (ESI) in a forensically sound manner. Specific duties for the position include: Performs expert collection of collected ESI in accordance with best practice Forensic laboratories and standards. Performs required reporting and documentation and maintain chain of custody of computer forensic evidence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Founded in 1913 in Atlanta, Georgia State University is the second-largest and one of four research institutions in the University System of Georgia. The University serves one-fourth of the graduate students in the university system; it is within a one-hour commute of more than one-third of the state’s population. Approximately 80 percent of all Georgia State alumni live and work in Georgia.
Georgia State’s main campus is located on 34 acres in downtown Atlanta. University centers in Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Buckhead and Henry County offer students convenient suburban locations for graduate courses in business and education.
More than 50,000 students annually attend Georgia State University. While 90 percent of the students are from Georgia, students also come from all 50 states and 160 countries. More than 1,400 international students attend Georgia State and graduate students comprise 31 percent of the student population.
The University offers more than 52 degree programs in more than 250 fields of study – from public policy and African-American studies to biology and health sciences. Degrees are offered at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels through six units: the College of Arts and Sciences, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Law and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.
The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
