Part-Time Biology Laboratory Assistant
Job Description:Sarah Lawrence College seeks a Biology Laboratory Assistant (term-limited) responsible for the general clerical and technical operations of biology course labs. This person will work closely with the Biology faculty to assist in many key aspects of successful implementation of the weekly labs associated with our courses. This is a six month, part-time staff position, with a twenty-four-hour work week (4 days per week; 6 hours per day), with the possibility of extension for a full year term.
Essential Duties Summary:Responsibilities will include:
•Ordering, stocking, and maintaining all supplies and reagents for the laboratories
•Preparing stocks, setting up and taking down weekly course labs as directed by the faculty
•Keeping track of accounts and processing invoices for payment
•Maintaining inventory records and organizing common spaces in the department
•Supporting in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including during class time
•Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Good quantitative skills, including measurement and mathematics
Familiarity with biology laboratories; Previous work experience in a biology laboratory is preferred
Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

•Familiarity with biology labs; previous work experience in a biology laboratory—as a research or teaching assistant—is preferred.
•Strong organizational abilities
•Ability to work independently and to demonstrate appropriate initiative
•A demonstrated ability to work collegially with others
