The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is the second largest engineering college in Georgia with nearly 5,000 students. The Engineering Technology Department consists of 400 students and over 14 full-time faculty members who are committed to student success. The faculty are committed to delivering a nationally recognized program. Scholarship in the Department spans both industry- and government-funded research projects focused on practical application of engineering principles. The faculty have expertise in areas that include additive manufacturing, engineering materials, nondestructive testing, mechanism design, product development, prototyping, mechanical design of automated manufacturing systems, biomedical applications, engineering design graphics, as well as teaching and learning in engineering education. Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time Manufacturing/Machining faculty positions in the Department of Engineering Technology beginning August 1, 2021. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities specifically include one or more courses and/or laboratories in manufacturing, machining, CNC machining and programming, etc.
Review of the applications is ongoing. This position is renewable. Required Qualifications
10 years experience in manufacturing and/or machining NIMS CNC or CAM machining certifications or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications
An earned bachelors, masters or doctoral degree in engineering or closely related field, or its foreign equivalent. Knowledge of general machining operations: turning (manual/CNC), milling (manual/CNC), shaping, sawing, grinding, etc. Knowledge of ASME-based best-practices for engineering drawings. Knowledge of GD&T interpretation. Knowledge of Y14.5-2018. Knowledge of tolerances and tolerance/ process relationships. Certified SolidWorks Professional Certification or better. SolidWorks advanced certification in Weldments, Sheet Metal, Drawings, Customization, and Surfacing preferred. Expertise in Top-down and Bottom-up design techniques. Expertise in mechanics and/or welding is a plus. Industry experience. Professional Engineering license. College level teaching, and online teaching are pluses. Required Documents to Attach
