Work Schedule:

We are looking for students who can work 8-12 hours per week Monday-Friday between 8a-5p during the academic school year (August 16, 2021-May 31, 2021).

Weekly schedule will be set at the beginning of each semester based on the student’s availability. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

This position will work a hybrid schedule with shifts that must be worked on campus and shifts that may be worked remotely.

Job Description Summary:

The Libraries and Learning Commons (located in the Wilson Library) is looking for a creative, energetic student with excellent communications skills to assist and collaborate with other students on social media content, displays, flyers, programming and other outreach initiatives.

Specific Duties:

The student assistant will:
•Work with professional and student staff on various programming, displays, exhibits, and other events.
•Plan and create engaging social media content for the Libraries & Learning Commons’ social media outlets (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tik Tok)
•Plan and create videos, flyers, and digital signage
•Develop strategies to increase followership and engagement.
•Develop and write blogs
•Work independently and collaborate with a team
•Participate in weekly meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

•Currently enrolled University of La Verne Student
•Interest in graphic design, photography, video creation and editing, creative writing, marketing, promotions, public relations, event planning
•Strong interpersonal, oral, and communications skills (verbal and written)
•Knowledge and familiarity of social media platforms
•Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
•Strong attention to detail
•Strong organizational skills
•Strong project management skills to meet deadlines
•Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

•Strong knowledge of graphic design and social media principles and practices
•Familiarity with Canva, Photoshop, InDesign and/or other graphic design tools
•Familiarity with iMovie, Premiere Pro, or other video editing tools

Benefits Summary:

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
