Job Description Summary

Student employees are an extremely vital part of the Athletics department. We rely on students to accomplish a significant portion of the work necessary for the day-to-day operations of our department. If you are hired to work as an Athletics Student Worker, you will assist in various areas of the department centered around your personal preference. The work that you will be assigned will be based on your level of commitment to the job. If you take the job seriously and use it as the real-world experience that it is, you will be given tasks that allow you to grow and develop, as well as, give you more responsibility.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

The Athletic Department Student Worker would work in one of the areas below and may perform such duties below but are not limited to:

Athletic Communications – In-game stats, game operations for SSC Digital Network, graphic design, public address, office tasks

Sports Medicine – Laundry, stocking supplies and inventory, setup and breakdown for all home events and practices, office tasks

Business Operations – Budget reconciliation, inventory management, financial reporting, assist with team travel.

Compliance Office – Assist the compliance department with various office tasks, data entry, filing, and scanning.

Event Operations and Facility Management – Setup/Breakdown for home contests and events, in-game event operations, and day-to-day facility management

External Operations – promote and market the Athletic department and all events.

Operations – Facility scheduling for all practices and home games, entering work tickets for all events, event staffing, and payments

Receptionist – Greet visitors of the athletic department, show and give directions, answer any questions

Tickets and Concessions – Sell tickets, concessions, and merchandise at all home games, inventory, financial reporting.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Federal Work-Study is preferable, but Non-Federal Work-Study students are encouraged to apply. All qualifications below are not needed to apply:

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Awareness of general office skills and decorum a plus
  • Knowledge of using audio and video equipment (microphones, soundboards, cameras, cables, etc.)
  • Proficient in Photoshop
  • Knowledge of InDesign
  • Can shoot and creatively edit video
  • Premiere Pro or other video editing software
  • File Management and conversions

Skills:

  • Dependable, ability to prioritize and organize, multi-task, creative thinker, outgoing, reliable, punctual, willingness and ability to take charge
  • Have experience with customer service
  • Work well with others in individual and group setting
  • Previous knowledge, training, or experience is preferred but not required

Abilities:

  • Hours will vary based on the area you are hired to work. Most areas will require individuals to work nights and weekends.
  • Some lifting of objects up to 50lbs and bending and reaching may be required in some positions.
  • Exposure to inclement weather for long periods in some positions
  • Ability to balance many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to manage time and stress for self and others

Organization

The opportunities at Saint Leo University are as diverse as our student population. As Florida’s first Catholic institution of higher learning, we offer more than 40 academic programs that meet the educational, spiritual, and professional goals of nearly 16,000 traditional-age and adult students. 

Nearly 2,000 students live and study at our University Campus in Saint Leo, FL, nestled in the rolling hills of West Central Florida, just 30 minutes north of Tampa.  Our students receive personalized attention in classes that tend to be small—14 students on average.
