Job Description:


Basic Function and Responsibility


Manage assigned aspects of the Oakton CARES program. Offer students instruction on application process, review and award federal emergency relief funds, and communicate award information to students. Track spending of federal dollars, and prepare and analyze data for federal reports.


Review and monitor student applications for federal emergency relief funds (Oakton's CARES program). Ensure students meet eligibility requirements to receive funding, and correctly apply awarding matrix.


Prepare and submit award information to the Accounting department. If student authorizes funding to be applied towards tuition, correctly delineate between award amounts designated for tuition and refundable award amounts.


Manage communications to students, including award decisions and general questions. Ensure web content is current and accurate.


Monitor and communicate to students who may be eligible for additional federal and state financial aid through the special circumstances application process.


Calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records. Maintain detailed records of student awards to track spending of the federal grant dollars. Prepare and analyze data for required reports to the Department of Education and participate in annual audits. Provide detailed award information to the College community as requested.


Perform other job related duties as assigned.



Requirements:


Associates degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required. Two years of experience providing customer service or student service. Financial aid experience is preferred. Accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.


Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to communicate process and policies thoroughly in one-on-one interactions or via electronic communication tools. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deliver services in an environment where an emphasis on customer service is required. Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit an adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large


Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to merge data into form letters/electronic communication, and sort, filter, and merge spreadsheets. Must be able to prepare and analyze data for reports. Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.



Additional Information:


20 hours per week


Hourly: $22.54


This is a temporary grant position.
