Department Summary:

The University of North Texas at Dallas Athletics Department is responsible for track and basketball athletics teams, meeting the requirements of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Position Overview:

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applicants for the part time position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.

The University – the first four-year public institution of higher education in Dallas – seeks an individual who will assist the Head Coach in leading the Women’s basketball team. Position will require hands-on coaching, as well as some travel. Candidate must be physically fit. May on occasion be required to drive a university and/or rental van for short trips.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree and 1 year experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people, preparing them for success in life as well as athletically.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a basketball coach at the high school and/or AAU and/or intercollegiate level.

Experience in strength training and familiarity with physical therapy protocols. NASM Personal Trainer Certification.

Work Schedule:

Hours are irregular and will include some weekends and evenings.

Recruit, mentor, coach and lead students who will represent the university and its mission of providing high-quality, student-focused education in preparation for tomorrow’s careers.

Support a program that is expected to adhere to the highest standards of compliance, competitiveness, sportsmanship, and quality.

o:

Expected to provide assistance in arranging games against appropriate competition.

o:

Coordinate travel arrangements.

o:

Work with support staff as appropriate to assure the academic and personal success of the team’s student-athletes.

o:

Supervise the team’s student athletes in nutrition, physical training, and game readiness.

o:

Support student athletes in their academic challenges and opportunities.
